Legacy: Birthdays and Names

Kachiky was born on the 6th of April, 2004. It was first established in order to host a shrine of mine (now long since dead). Over time, it has morphed into my personal playground, my treasure trove, my blank canvas and my digital paper. Truthfully, it doesn't house much, but like my bed after a tiring day, it's comfortable, and these days I find myself seeking comfort more than anything else.

Name-wise, I'd have to say that most of it was random. I used to really enjoy pasting together syllables in the hope that whatever I got would sound interesting rather than hideous. That's pretty much how "kachiky" came about. By chance, it looks similar to "kachiki", which in Japanese refers to a "determined or unyielding spirit", and it was from this that the alternative name, "Undying Spirit Network", was created.

I feel that I should note here that as one of the earlier versions of the name was "kachikai", "kachiky" is pronounced in the same manner (as opposed to "kachiki"). Though I don't really have any control over how you pronounce it ... but that's the correct way to do it, just for the sake of getting the information out there.

Version Nine: The Quiet Hours

This layout was made with rainy Sunday mornings vaguely in mind. You know, those mornings -- the kind where you're half-awake with your eyes closed and you rub them and there's this explosion of kaleidoscope colour on the back of your eyelids. I wanted to somehow transform that feeling, or perhaps just a fraction of it, into images and code. But I have to admit that when I was done with the layout I took a good look at it and thought, "citrus fruit?" -- so I guess it can be either; take your pick.

Actually, believe it or not, I went through about seven other discarded layouts to get to this one. All of them were centered around the theme of "rain and umbrellas", and all were remarkably stunted in growth save maybe one. I kept up with the theme (or tried to), and, thank goodness, managed to come up with this. There's some of my newly established layout philosophy behind this version nine, but I'll spare you the ramble.

Tools: made using Photoshop CS3; umbrellas originally drawn using Paint Tool SAI; coding done using Araneae 5.0.0.

Regarding Hosting and Affiliation

Kachiky no longer accepts hosting or affiliation applications. Both are available only to well-known friends through invites. Thank you for your understanding.
